Fans of CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 may be in for a long wait for the next update as the developers published an updated roadmap showing that no further updates are planned for the game for the remainder of 2021.
The futuristic roleplaying game has been mired in problems since its release in September 2020 and has barely seen updates beyond bug fixes. Many features promised in early reveals of Cyberpunk 2077, including fully customizable vehicles, and player housing failed to make the final release as console gamers complained of poor performance on next gen systems that remain to be fixed.
While players are hopeful that much of the cut content and next gen enhancements would be ready before the end of the year, the new roadmap pushes much of these updates to the first quarter of 2022.

Late last month, CD Projekt quietly updated its development roadmap which it first released back in January to confirm that it had nothing else planned for the rest of the year. The next-gen updates for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X have been confirmed for a first-quarter 2022 release.
The delay puts a period of 5 months between the last Cyberpunk 2077 upgrade and the next release. The game was last updated in August with version 1.31, which mostly fixed problems introduced in an earlier patch.
In addition to the delay, it is unclear if the schedule has also affected the release of the next gen upgrade to CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3, which was initially announced with the launch of the PlayStation 5.
Despite the delays and messiness surrounding the game’s development — it was notably the victim of a ransomware attack that saw hackers stealing the entirety of the source code and all of its connected assets — players can still enjoy Cyberpunk 2077 with the help of mods, some of which drastically overhaul the experience.
